We’re still not technically in Autumn, but there was no way I was going to let a technicality stop me from sharing the extremely cosy outfits I’ve been wearing as the weather has turned colder. I bought a new handbag for myself for my birthday; it’s this wee cross body bag by Coach in collaboration with the late Keith Haring. This bag and the shift in the temperature have really been getting me in the mood for Autumn, so the first outfit I wanted to share with you in this post is directly inspired by the bag’s burgundy and pink colour scheme.
I paired my rust-coloured Saturday by Megan Ellaby jumper (thank you Depop for the best damn bargains as always), with some old Topshop paperbag trousers in a pink and burgundy chevron pattern with the bag and my favourite M&S boots – I was unbelievably excited to dig the boots out from under my bed after packing them away for Summer.
You’ve already seen a little sneak peak of the next outfit in my Inherited Jewellery post, but here it is in all its glory. I bought this XXL men’s golf jumper years ago at a kilo sale; the previous owner clearly put it on far too high a heat and shrunk it in the wash – be careful with your wool folks. The blue trousers are ASOS ones that I bought from Depop to replace my old favourite green peg trousers that are now too big, and the black pointy flats are old ASOS. Add my new favourite bag and I was happy a clam while messing about on the swings in the park, even though I may not look it.
This black midi skirt has proven to be one of the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe, despite how little I wore it initially. I included it in my 10×10 challenge, and pairing it with so many different items really helped me to understand its potential. That will no doubt be continuing throughout Autumn, with sheer tights and stomping boots as it gets colder. For the slightly warmer weather at the moment though, I’ve gone with a think khaki knit and my black and white boots, which has left me feeling appropriately witchy.
Autumn is definitely the time of year where I feel most excited about styling up my wardrobe. I love a good jumper, and Summer is definitely when I struggle the most, so it’s a bit of a relief every year when I feel that chill in the air. Boots, blazer, jumper, jeans is my default Autumn outfit, and something you’ll no doubt be seeing a lot of on the blog on my Instagram over the next couple of month. These three Autumn outfits were an attempt to try and not go straight for that easy outfit combination and put together a few outfits that I can rewear again and again, giving me some ideas for dark mornings when I can’t even think, let alone thrown on a decent outfit. Did you have a favourite of the three? And how are we all feeling about the impending chilly weather?
