March Favourites

I felt a favourites post would be the most appropriate first post on this blog, as it has a little bit of all of me.

This month I have six favourites; my Kiehls’ Ultra Facial Cream, Givenchy Noir Couture Volume Mascara mini and Makeup Applicator Sponge from the March My Little Box, the Hozier album, Uprooted by Naomi Novik and Trevor the Cactus.

I won’t say too much about Uprooted, as there’s a whole post coming about it.  Needless to say, it was fantastic and I read it in one sitting, then read it again.

I went skiing in Cervinia last month and my already dry skin suffered horribly.  Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream has restored it to normality!  I wear it slapped all over my face every night and keeps my skin under control. I am still on the hunt for a mask that can alleviate my major dryness once and for all, and this cream is too heavy for day wear, so I’m experimenting at the moment!

I had just cancelled my My Little Box subscription when the March My Little Box arrived, containing these two little gems.  The sponge is good quality and makes blending even on dry skin a breeze.  The mascara is a treat, wickedly black (I usually wear brown) and brilliant at catching those corner lashes.  I am a very big fan and will likely buy the full size version at some point.  I haven’t renewed my subscription however, as I wanted to try other boxes and I’m not made of money!

I don’t have a picture of the Hozier album as I’m one of those cheapskates that just streams it through Youtube (that’s right, I’m too cheap to even pay for Spotify).  Hozier is deeply soulful, uplifting with occasionally an uncomfortable realism to his songs.  Cherry Wine is about abuse (see the video with Saiorse Ronan), In A Week (possibly my favourite track) is about dead bodies found in the Wicklow Hills in Ireland, and we’ve all heard Take Me To Church by now.  I saw him live in February, despite not actually knowing much of his music.  I think I fell in love a little bit.

Trevor the Cactus has survived six years in my company but was sadly abandoned at my old flat during my gradual moving out but we are finally reunited.  He’s lethal and drew blood twice on the journey from one side of Manchester to the other.

That’s all for now, keep your eyes peeled for that Uprooted post!
