This is my first box from Look Incredible, which promises five full sized products in every box. I’m quite impressed with what I’ve received this month, but I will write my initial reaction and final impressions after using them for a week or so.
Laura Geller Spackle Undereye Eye Primer – worth £20
First Impressions: So my first reaction was oh dear god that typo, quickly followed by the realisation that spackle was a word, but isn’t it something to do with plastering? Like polyfilla? I decided not dwell on the idea of plastering my eyes and instead actually look at the product. Spackle is a primer for undereyes that is designed to hydrate and act as a pick-me-up for when you’re knackered. Infused with antioxidants and hyaluronic acid it is also anti-aging. The applicator is typical of undereye primers, which I will admit I’ve never actually used before. I’ve been considering getting something along these lines for a while as I feel my undereyes do get a bit tired and my typical moisturiser is too heavy. Looking forward to trying this!
Final Impressions: I love it! It’s really lovely and cooling and I really feel more awake after using it. My eyes look a little brighter and definitely after applying makeup my under eyes felt much more comfortable than normal. That sounds slightly strange but I often feel like my makeup can be a bit heavy on my undereyes.
SmashBox Blush Soft Light Duo – worth £15
First Impressions: The packaging is pretty uninspired but I really like the look of the colours. I like using blusher as I’m pretty pale, and these two shades look like they’ll compliment my skin tone quite well.
Final Impressions: I actually quite like this blush/highlighter combo! I’ve been wearing them both together and it gives a nice glow without being too pink. Separately the highlighter is good, but I like my highlighters more on the creamy side than powder so I’ll probably continue using this as just a blush.
L’Oreal Nutri-Gold Silky Day Cream – worth £13
First Impressions: I’m about 90% sure my Mum uses this. L’Oreal makes some big promises for Nutri-Gold, namely that after 4 weeks it should leave the skin ‘intensely nourished, soft and silky’. It uses calcium to rejuvenate the skin’s protective barrier and white jasmine to strengthen the epidermis. I may not be the best person to test this product as my skin is really very dry so I need products that really deliver on the moisture front, but I’ll see how it goes!
Nutri-Gold promises to leave the skin feeling silky soft after 4 weeks, and I will reserve some judgment until 4 weeks have passed but after one week I’m just finding it okay. I mean, it’s a decent moisturiser, but it’s not even close to as good as my Nuxe Creme Prodigieuse. It does sit nicely under makeup, and I’ll definitely use up the pot, but my extremely dry skin just needs that bit extra I’m afraid. I’ll update this post in a few more weeks and let you know if anything has changed!
Urban Decay Super Saturated Lip Colour – worth £14
First Impressions: I love my Clinique chubby stick and love the convenience of Lip Colours in pencil form, but had no idea Urban Decay did some! In all honesty, I’m pretty blind to Urban Decay just because I get distracted by the eyeshadow palettes (as I think we all do) but I’ll be looking into their wider range after discovering these! I like the look of the packaging plain and simple but pretty, but I have some reservations about the colour. It looks a little pale for me!
Final Impressions: I love the formula of this Lip Colour Pencil as it’s really moisturising and sits comfortably on the lips. The colour though, is just not me. It’s a paler pink than my lips and just looks unnatural and unflattering on me. I have since given it to a friend who loves it, but I will be looking into the other colours as I liked how it felt, if not how it looked!
Velvet 59 My Fair Lashes Mascara – worth £19.99
First Impressions: Velvet 59 is a new brand for me, and I’m very happy to receive a mascara as I get through loads of them and am always on the look out for a new one, especially if it has a different shaped brush! This mascara has a sort of ball at the end to get to the hard to reach lashes at the corners, which I’m pretty sure I’ve seen before and quite liked. I’m looking forward to trying this out.
Final Impressions: I’ve since read a few reviews of this mascara and fair number of people don’t like it because they claim it doesn’t actually do very much. That’s actually the very reason I love it! It’s fast drying and doesn’t smudge, a black that isn’t too intense and that’s about it. The vast majority of mascaras these days have lash lengthening fibres in them, which I just find annoying and clumpy. The Velvet 59 mascara just does exactly what I want it to – it darkens my lashes and doesn’t make a mess of it. My lashes are already quite long and I don’t want to turn them into creepy spider legs as some mascaras seem intent on doing. I really like the My Fair Lashes mascara, but I have slightly different requirements from a mascara to most people, so I can see how they might be disappointed in it.
Overall, I am very glad that I subsribed to the Look Incredible Beauty Box and I can’t wait for next month! The box came to £81.99 worth of products which isn’t bad for £18.99. It is one of the more expensive boxes out there, but I definitely got my moneys’ worth this month.
