My April LookFantastic Box just arrived! I’m going to write about my initial reaction to the products now, and after testing them for a few days I’ll add my final impressions.
This month’s box is extremely pretty and is centred around Earth Month, so all of the products included are either natural, organic or ethical in some way. However, my first impression is that April’s offerings are thoroughly underwhelming.
Rituals Miracle Hand Scrub
First Impression: Hand…scrub? Well it’s something new to me at any rate! I’ve used Rituals hand creams before but have never used a hand scrub. I feel as if my hands get enough scrubbing on a daily basis anyway, but I’ll certainly give this a shot! It does smell lovely.
Final Impression: CONVERTED! I love this! I really like the smell and I feel like I have new hands! They’re all soft and smooth and didn’t need hand cream for the entire rest of the day (which is saying something). I‘ll be buying more when this runs out although I’ve found I don’t need much so that won’t be for a while.
Bloom and Blossom Bath and Shower Gel
First Impression: Free from parabens, sulphates etc. this shower is instead filled with cucumber and is recommended for sensitive skin.
Final Impression: This is just shower gel. Nothing special, no particular scent. Pretty boring.
Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Hair Mask
First Impression: Lots of oils in this one! Argan, Avocado, Rosehip and Almod, as well as a whole load of vitamins. The mask is also cruelty free and great for sensitive scalps as it’s free of silicone and synthetic fragrances.
Final Impression: This is pretty good! I don’t really go in for hair masks but I found it made my hair feels loads softer for several days after using it. I’m going to use it sparingly for when my hair feels like it needs a treat.
Elemis, British Botanical Hand and Nail Butter
First Impression: This is a little travel size hand butter so I’ll be popping it into my handbag instead of Soap and Glory’s Hand Food for a few days to see how it compares.
Final Impression: Very moisturising but has a very strong floral scent that I’m not keen on. I smelled like my Nan for several hours after using it just once.
Tanworx, Tan Maintainer
First Impression: This is completely useless for me. I am pasty white and like it that way, so I’ll be giving it to my Mother who is this tall, olive skinned, dark haired goddess (I am a ginger, glow-in-the-dark hobbit). Still not entirely convinced I wasn’t adopted although she says remembers giving birth so perhaps not.
Balance Me, Super Toning Body Polish
First Impression: I do actually need a new body exfoliant so I’m looking forward to using this one! Blackberry Leaf increases collagen production for cell renewal after scrubbing all the gross dead ones off.
Final Impression: This reminds me of the St. Ives Apricot Body Scrub that I used to use when I was a teenager. It’s good, but doesn’t do a fantastic job of exfoliating on my legs where I really need it, and I would prefer something a bit coarser and with more moisturising ingredients. It’s okay, but St. Ives is pretty much the same and a bit cheaper.
Myvitamins, Vitamin C Effervescent Tablets
Only Impression: If there’s one thing in this world I hate it’s effervescent tablets. Straight in the bin, no matter their claim to be raspberry flavoured.
Bit of a mixed bag this month, but I did find one or two things I liked with the Rituals Hand Scrub and the Briogeo Hair Mask. Not the best box I’ve had from Look Fantastic but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for something better next month. If you like your products to be organic and as natural as possible then I imagine this would be a great box for discovering new brands and products, but it just wasn’t very me!
